Teams 3042R and 3042U
Paul Dixon

On Saturday, November 8th, three robotics teams from Randolph Union High School competed in a tournament in Pembroke, New Hampshire.

In a Vex Robotics Competition, each match involves four teams paired into alliances of two teams each. The tournament is structured with six qualifying matches where alliance partners are randomly assigned. A team's performance in these qualifiers determines their ranking for the playoffs. For the playoffs, each team selects an alliance partner to team up with for the remainder of the tournament.

  • Team 3042U, "RU Ghosts," allied with Team 3042R, "The Ionizers," but they were defeated during the first round of the playoffs.
  • Team 3042H, "The Big Pelicans," formed an alliance with Team 77275C, "The Cyclone Chasers," from Manchester, New Hampshire. This alliance was victorious throughout the playoffs, advancing all the way to the final match of the day where they were ultimately bested.

Team 3042H, "The Big Pelicans," was awarded a trophy for reaching the final match.

All teams gained valuable experience and identified areas for improvement before their next competition, which is scheduled for December 13th.
