RU Wrestler works for the fall!

Welcome to RUHS Ghost Athletics

From the Athletic Director:

“The mark of great sportsmen is not how good they are at their best, but how good they are at their worst.” – Martina Navratilova

Good Afternoon,

After careful consideration and taking in the opinions of my coaching staff, it has been decided that there will not be an end of the year RU sports night. Due to a lack of attendance last year, how busy the end of the year is, and most of the coaches having already held an end of season event, I have decided to cancel the event. Spring season teams are still expected to do an end of season event with their teams to recognize athletes, hand out varsity letters and pins etc. The senior awards night is still on, this is a completely separate event. My hopes for next year are that we will go to a model where at the end of each sports season, we host an event to recognize all the high school athletes from that season.

Next week is the final week of the regular season for Varsity athletics. This means that senior games are coming up. We will be recognizing our spring season seniors at each of their last home games of the season. Please make sure to check the date reminders towards the bottom of the ghostly.

If you are a senior athlete, make sure to pick up your sports booster scholarship application in the main office. You do not need to be pursuing a traditional 4 year college education to be eligible for this scholarship. The deadline is June 2nd, so there is still time to do this. With that said, I have yet to receive any applications. Please do not wait until the last minute.

The baseball team will be playing a JV game in North Country on Saturday, May 27th at 11:00.  This game will give student athletes that don’t see many varsity innings the opportunity to get some time on the field to help build their skills.

I currently have large #GhostNation stickers for sale. These stickers are designed to go on vehicles, but can go on just about anything. They are being sold for $10 a piece. If you are interested in purchasing one, please reach out to me by phone or email.

A friendly reminder that it is a privilege to attend sporting events. Fans are expected to be respectful and cheer for our teams in a positive manner. No fan should be yelling at the other team or the officials as this sets a bad example for our student athletes. Also, there is an official shortage and if our fans are getting after the officials, they will not want to continue officiating games and that is the last thing we need. If you observe someone being disrespectful, rude, or unsporting,  encourage them to come and let me know and that way I can handle the situation right away. So, please remember to be respectful and cheer positively.

The practice schedule is on the RUHS athletics website. It will be updated weekly to show where and when each team will practice. Be sure to give it a close look so you know when your student athletes are practicing.
