RU Plays Host To Japanese Students

Randolph Union High School (and Middle School) runs a long-standing student exchange program with the Shizukuishi region in Japan.
History: The program started in 1992 after a former Randolph resident taught English in Shizukuishi.
The Exchange: Japanese students visit Randolph for about a week, staying with local host families. Randolph students travel to Japan in return, often every other year or through planned travel cycles.
Activities: Visiting students experience local life in Vermont. They attend school events, visit local landmarks or Vermont State University, tour the Randolph Technical Career Center (RTCC), and share meals like the community potluck.
Funding: While trips for visiting students are often supported by their home schools, Randolph student travel relies heavily on community fundraising, local events, and grants.
